Hello Kansas! On November 8, 2022 we went to the polls, or submitted our mail-in ballots, to vote on our representation in the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, and on two ballot measures.

The results are in.

Ballot Measures:

Question 1: § 17 Legislative Oversight of Administrative Rules and Regulations. Allows lawmakers to revise and revoke regulations set by executive departments. NO 50.5%

What does this mean? A NO vote would allow state agencies to continue to use rules and regulations to do their work without the legislature being able to take them back.

Question 2: § 2 County and Township Officers. Adds the election of county sheriffs to the state constitution. YES 61.7%

What does this mean? A YES vote on the amendment would keep the election of sheriffs that happens in almost all counties exactly as it is now. But if any of those counties wanted to change how the sheriff gets into office in the future, they could not. The sheriff would only ever be an elected office.

Senate:

Jerry Moran (R)

House:

  • Tracey Mann (R) (KS 1)
  • Jake LaTurner (R) (KS 2)
  • Sharice Davids (D) (KS 3)
  • Ron Estes (R) (KS 4)
  • Governor: Laura Kelly (D)
