From the Topeka Metro, August 26, 2016
TOPEKA, Kan. (August 26, 2016) – It’s Here! Topeka Metro is excited to announce through a partnership with Google Maps, passengers can plan their transit route using a smart phone or online. Google Maps provides door-to-door directions to locate the shortest and quickest transit route to their destination.
By inputting beginning and ending locations, passengers can identify transit times and routes needed to get from point A to point B. In a technology-based world, this method is one of the quickest and most accurate ways for passengers to know when a bus will pick them up and drop them off.
Topeka Metro will continue to produce and distribute printed route map books; however, Google Maps usage is encouraged for passengers in navigating more customized trip planning.
“Google Maps is an important tool to increase satisfaction with our passengers,” said Topeka Metro General Manager Susan Duffy. “Using this technology is a quantum leap in the user experience and revolutionizes trip planning for riders.”
To plan a Topeka Metro trip on Google Maps, visit maps.google.com or use the Google maps app on a mobile device to enter destination information and select the transit icon (a bus).
