The Salvation Army in Topeka will receive a shipment of nearly 120 fans to help those in need

From the Topeka Salvation Army, July 31, 2015

WHAT: The end of summer is still more than a month away and The Salvation Army’s work of distributing fans is far from over.
On Monday, August 6th at 1:00 pm, The Salvation Army will be picking up a new supply of 118 box fans from Westlake ACE Hardware to distribute to those in need. Westlake recently hosted a fan drive to benefit The Salvation Army. Topeka-area customers generously donated enough funds to purchase 118 new box fans for the organization.

Families in need of a fan can call The Salvation Army, 785-233-9648, to get their name on a waiting list. Only ONE fan per household, please. Photo identification is required for the name of the person on the waiting list that is picking up the fan. The fans can be picked up at The Salvation Army, 1320 SE 6th Ave, Topeka KS 66614 on Monday, August 10th starting at 4:00 pm.

WHEN: Thursday, August 6, 2015 @ 1 pm (pickup of fans)
Monday, August 10, 2015 @ 4 pm (distribution of fans)

WHY:Heat poses a very real danger to the elderly, families with young children and those with medical issues. Fans are critical to keeping those without air conditioning or who are on a fixed income comfortable and safe during the hot summer months. The Salvation Army provides fans to qualified applicants.
