City to offers fans for heat relief

The city will give away about 50 fans this year through its “Project Neighborhood Relief” to those who qualify, beginning Sunday morning. This is the third year for the program.

To qualify, a person must be a Topeka resident, at least 55 years of age and have an annual income of $25,380 or less for a one-person household. Two-people households must have an annual income of $28,980 or less; three-peeople, $32,640 or less; and four people, $36,240 or less.

Those who want to qualify must already be in the Mid America Assistance Coalition or register at Let’s Help, 200 S. Kansas Ave. Those applying must provide proof of household income, a Social Security card and photo identification.

Fans can be picked up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Let’s Help. The city plans to distribute them on a first-come, first served basis.
